What's in their head?
This group is stuck in the middle: no longer little kids, but not the big kids they long to be. They aspire to be teens and, just like teens, are influenced heavily by their peers. They want cool and they want people to KNOW they’re cool. But they also have a very good idea of the importance of eating right.

What do they want?
First and foremost: these ARE NOT KIDS! They don’t think of themselves as the little kids that are in 3rd or 4th grade. Offer them “fun” kid foods and you’re going to lose them. Tweens are also open to more experimentation with ethnic foods (especially spicy ones). Ketchup is the old standby, but don’t hesitate to offer them hot sauces—what’s too spicy for a little kid is fine for them.

What can you do for them?
New sauces, global inspirations and rich flavors are all big hits. French fries are still going to be a favorite, but new flavors like Sweet Potato Fries are sure to be popular, as they're perceived as more "grown up" foods.

What's on the menu?
One thing is for sure: offering larger portions is key. So is the bolder taste of ethnic foods. Grab 'n go formats (just like they get at their favorite restaurants) are always a hit. Offer the following to your Tweens and you’ll be fine:
